Yoga Styles Explained

Below you’ll find a simple explanation of each style of yoga I offer to help you choose the practice that feels right for you. If you’d like more guidance, never hesitate to reach out — I’m always happy to answer questions!

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga uses a plethora of props like blankets and bolsters to fully support your body in gentle, long-held poses. It’s less about stretching and more about creating a safe space for your nervous system to reset. The intention of restorative yoga is to heal. In a world that constantly demands more and more of us, restorative yoga teaches us we are already enough, and only through comfortable stillness can our body properly rest, recharge, and restore.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga invites you to hold postures for several minutes, targeting the deeper layers of connective tissue (fascia, tendons, ligaments) while encouraging presence and patience. A consistent yin practice leads to improved flexibility, mobility, circulation, and patience. In this practice we explore the subtle difference between pain and discomfort.

Both restorative and yin styles are slow, meditative practices that invite stillness and mindfulness, but the difference lies in the intensity.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra (or “yogic sleep”) is a deeply restful, science-backed guided meditation practiced lying down, designed to quiet your mind and leave you feeling grounded and renewed. 30-45 minutes of Yoga Nidra is the equivalent to 3-4 hours of sleep on the body in terms of restoration. Perfect for those suffering with sleep struggles or have a difficult time relaxing or quieting the mind. No movement necessary; accessible to all.

Not really sure the difference?

The best way to understand the difference is through experience!
